This is n educational game that teaches children, old and young alike, about the Amazon jungle. In this game you get to encounter native animals and people along with some interesting foreigners from other countries (for instance England). To begin with your journey, you must choose your guide that offers different specialities-tracking, fishing, etc. After picking your guide, you must pick what pack you are going to take with you on your trip that contains your supplies. We had some trouble trying to figure out how to travel down the river in our canoe when we first began our journey. We did not know that you are supposed to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to make the canoe move. After figuring out our confusion, the game progressed rather nicely. We were able to stop at any time to explore the land and take pictures that were put in the journal. Anytime a picture was taken, information would come up about the animal. We bought the game for our 9 year old son to help encourage him to read, not to mention our 14 and 12 year old daughters love to learn about animals. I was even amazed by some of the information that they provided about the various animals in the game. This game is similiar to the Oregon Trail game that appeared in the late 80's that let you make decisions about your journey. Just like Oregon Trail, the graphics are of the older blotchy style. I would recommend Amazon Trail 3rd Edition--Rainforest Adventures for the PC to anyone that has children and wanted them to learn more about the Amazon. With all the interesting information that is in this game, who knows what you or your child will learn and maybe can teach his/her classmates or other family members. It is fun, intriguing, and interesting. A mu7st have for families with children that love to learn or if you just want to reinforce what they have already learned in school!Read full review
An excellent game that I remembered playing as a child - I'm so glad I've got it again, it's been fun to see it all again! Installed without a problem on Windows XP laptop, although it does run in a small window and can't be made to fit full screen, which I don't find a problem but might irritate some people. A great game, very nostalgic for me, and also useful for my children who are interested in learning about the rainforest.
Had this game when I was a kid and fell in love with it. Been wanting another one for years. Its not as good as I remember it to be but then again I was a kid at that time, but its still fun to pass time with and its definitely a learning friendly game!
Just a fun old-school game.
